Christmas Day

OOps. Luke's picture didn't download where is was suppose too!
He wanted a Thomas the Train Set and a Building Set.. We added a Crayon Maker to use up all of those old broken crayons laying around!

We had a lovely Christmas morning.
Luke was the earliest one up at 8, then Madisyn came in our room a bit later. We then went and got the other boys up. I think it was the ice skating the night before! We were all in bed by 10:30 and slept well that night.
Even the gift opening went at a nice slow pace, with everyone getting a chance to see what everyone else received.
I couldn't decided which photo I liked best so I did both.
I like the reflection the lights make on the floor in this one.
Roger's favorite gift was his Kindle Electronic Reader as well as his new running shoes.
Believe it or not, what Jake asked for was the SAT study guide and Toy Story w/a digital copy. So he got it as well as the coveted Laptop! But, it is a FAMILY gift not just his own. :) We added an Electric Razor and some new clothes. He had been growing out of everything.
Madisyn's Christmas request was a new fancy dress, a Bop It and a dress coat. We added a set of Hot Rollers.

Sam wanted some DS games and Hot Wheels, and we added a fun K'nex set and a Lego Game
Mom's big job for the day was dinner. It turned out very nice. We had Ham, Baked Potato's, Homemade Rolls, Grandma Sue's Cranberry Salad, a new 8 Hour salad that was yummy, as well as a new veggie side called Company Cauliflower, which was also good. And for dessert, Chocolate Dream, Pecan and Pumpkin Pie!

Christmas EVE!

I think we have a new tradition for Chirstmas EVE... ICE SKATING!
Everyone was excited to get going.
Maddie was a little nervous but she did great.
It was so much fun!
Luke keeps asking to go back again.
Jake helping Madisyn
Roger trying to get Luke to do it on his own.
Sam & Luke spent a lot of time like this!
Jake was pretty good.
Sam and Luke were hanging on me a LOT!
Family TIME!
What a great time!
Jake was such a great big brother.

Christmas Goodies!

OK, I admit it... I think my favorite part of December just may be the goodies!
Here are few picture of some of the traditional goodies we do in our house.
One of Maddie's favorite things to do is make a Ginger Bread house. This year I found a kit that had 5 little house to make a village. It was fun for everyone to have one to make their own.
The final product!
One of my favorite things to do is make candy. No surprise there! LOL Last year I was able to get Pammy's Amazing Peanut Brittle recipe. (my great grandmother Sherwood) ooo, so yummy! Some of the other candies I made were Chocolate Covered Toffee and Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Balls. (Roger's favorite)
And of course, sugar cookies! That funny purple color was supposed to be red but it turn out to be a "Fall" red that had been put back in the wrong food coloring package. Oh well, they tasted good! We also tried a new cookie this year, snowballs. They were amazing! They will certainly be on next years list of goodies. And lastly, the Pumpkin Roll mmm mmm good!
I love this time of year!!!!!!

2010 Family Photos

We just never could find a good time to go out and take "nice" family pictures. Finally out of desperation with took a few minuets of time to take a few quick shots right before we were headed down to City Hall to preform. Roger, Jake Maddie and I have all been part of a combined ward Christmas Cantata. Our choir director works for the city and set us up to sing at the opening night of the Festival of Trees.
Jake's Junior Year picture. He is 16.
Madisyn's Freshman year photo. She is 14.
Sam is in 3rd grade and is 8.
And little Luke is 4!

Thanksgiving in Maricopa AZ

The Sherwood crew loves to get dirty!
So when we are with them it will most likely include going out on the desert and kicking up some dust. Just across the road from Grandma and Grandpa's house in Maricopa there is a big wash and some great riding places, so of course we all have to get out there and get DIRTY!
Trent and Peter in mom's Go Cart.
Roger and Maddie. Maddie said she spent more time walking than riding. LOL
Grandma with Camryn and Kayla.

Shurell, Trent and Peter
Strangely I don't have any of my family but Luke and the one with Roger and Maddie. When I got home I realized our crew is all on video and no still shots. I'm hoping that someone else got some of us and I will post them once I get them.

Jake's Quick Change 10/10

Coming home from Reno one afternoon I ran over something that popped my tire. Believe it or not I have not had a flat tire in over 16 years! The benefit of being married to a tire man I guess! :)
Anyway, thank goodness I had Jake with me. He was able to pull that tire off and have it changed in less than 10 minuets! I can only imagine how long it would have taken me. Especially since I didn't even know how to get the spare down! It is not like a truck that screws down, instead there is this little hidden hole under the the lifted back door that you have to stick the tire iron into and turn. Humph, who would have thought.
The Lord gives hidden blessings everyday, sometimes just having your son there in the car with you!

Grandma Madge's Quilts

When Grandma Madge was visiting us this summer she made each of the kids a quilt. I had planned on getting a photo of each of them with her while she was there, but some how did not. So while we were down visiting in AZ for Thanksgiving we stopped by her place and made sure that we got them. The kids love the time that she comes and spends with us in the summer and love their quilts. Each of them sleep with them and often bring them to the living room to watch TV with.
We decided to take them in front of her orange trees. Roger is always amazed when we are down there in the winter at the fruit on the trees. We brought home a couple of grocery bags of oranges and grapefruit with us. Yummy! She called me a couple of days later and told me it was a good thing we got them when we did because they had an unusual cold snap. 24 degrees, that she thinks ruined all of the fruit. While we were there she also let all the boys pick out a knife from an assortment she has. They were all so excited. Even Roger.
Seeing how big Jake is in this photo reminds me of when I was expecting him and had come out to this house to wait for him to be born. I love this little old place.
Grandma had made Jake a really nice flannel full size quilt for his bed but when he saw this Toy Story fabric he sheepishly asked if he could have a smaller one made from it. He has loved Toy Story since it came out when he was a toddler. He has even taken this quilt with him on his bus trips for soccer. The other boys got a kick out of it and then started bringing there stuff too. LOL
Madisyn and her Great Grandma. Madisyn was very excited about the cute plaid with her favorite color, yellow on the back.
Sam showing off the new knife he just received from her. Sam and Luke each got their choice as well. When they saw the Pokemon that was it! Happy Boys!!!!!
Luke with his quilt and knife too.
Me and my grandma! I miss living closer to her.

Sam's 1st Big Repair Job 11/13

So some times Hunny Do's don't get done as soon as they should.
Last October we had some terrible wind storms that tore most of shed's roof off. Well, before it starts snowing again Roger decide to get out there and put it back on. After looking at it he thought it would best not to put his or Jake's weight up there so up went little light weight Sam.
Sam was pretty excited to do it. He had just been telling me that he wanted to help Dad but there was never anything that he could do. This time he got his wish.
Roger gave him a drill and some screws and left him to do the job.
We were very proud of him. He was a great worker!
It didn't take long until Luke was up wanting to help too. So Sam would drill and Luke would hand him the screws. We were worried what we were going to do in a couple of years when Jake leaves but these little boys showed us we will be just fine for years to come. :)

Halloween Trunk R Treat 10/30

This Halloween was a crazy busy one. Sadly I have very few photos.
There were so many things going on Saturday and since Halloween fell on Sunday we did not go out and do treat or treating. That Saturday Sam and Luke both had their last soccer games, we had the ward Trunk R Treat party, Jake had a soccer party, and there was a stake youth dance in Fallon. I was running so many places that I did not even think to stop and get photos while I could but Roger did take a couple before the batteries on the camera died on him.
Darn it! Oh well we all had a great time anyway.
Thank goodness my friend Shiloh took this picture of us while we were waiting in line for dinner. It is the only one I have with Jake and Luke. ( Maddie is a Cowgirl, Jake a Mafia Goon, with a Nerf shotgun gun, Luke a dinosaur, he finally wanted to wear the "family" costume now that it is too small for him, and Sam is Darth Vader.)
It was Madisyn's job to sit in the trunk and hand out the candy. Isn't she just a doll?
Sam got in the action as well.
