Chicks and other stuff... 6/09

Oh, so cute! We ordered 12 new chicks and they sent 18. If the order is not big enough they add "comfort rooster". As much as I hate the thought I think we are going to be putting some roosters in the freezer this fall!

Sam on the last day of school with his teacher. Note the jackets, the class was going to have a beach party and it ended up raining all week, with Friday being the coldest day! Darn it.

I thought I would throw in a picture of these cute baby gifts I make. They are a receiving blanket and 2 burp clothes. I just love them and get requests for them quite regularly.

The Young Women from church came over to set up tents for their Girls Camp prep. They had 25 girls go this year.

Sam went to Basketball camp the week after school got out. He is such a busy little guy we thought this might be a great activity for him to get into. I think he really enjoyed it but has not been so keen about going out and playing it at home when I send him out. ;)

Moth Invation 6/09

I have lived in Fernley for almost 9 years and NEVER seen such a thing!!
We were totally invaded by little gray/brown disgusting mothes! It lasted for a full two weeks and there are still a few around. They would get in every nook and cranny they could find. I hang my jeans on the line and then find the pockets full of mothes! I open a window and when I shut it the tiny crevices of the jams are filled with them! I turn my laptop on at night and I am flooded with them! The grossest part is the NASTY liquid they left everywhere. I'm so afraid to know what it is since I was sprayed with it a number of times!!!!!!!!! SO GROSS.
Now that they are mostly gone a have a gross house to clean. Their nasty liquid has been left at every window and on many walls. SO GROSS!!!!

The Mower 6/09

Aw, Jake is so excited that his dad finally, this is the 3rd summer, broke down and bought a riding lawn mower! Now that we are on an acre and a quarter it is a little more than a chore to keep it trimmed and looking good, but that should be much easier now, Jake!
We bought it online from Sears over Memorial weekend, when it was on sale, and had it shipped to the Fallon Sears (free shipping that way). Sam and I went over on Friday to pick it up. Jake was at the Cowboy Shoot fund raiser for Scouts so he missed out on all the excitement. But then again he is going to spend the rest of his summers he lives out home using it so maybe he was not so excited!
Sam getting his "drivers licence" as he calls it. Basic safety training for the rest of us.
Roger and Jake are pretty excited about the sweeper. Not just to pick up grass and such but to clean up the LEAVES from our glorious bountiful cottonwood trees in the fall.

Annie House 5/31/09

The only reason I put this in my blog is because we all spent so much time there the last week of May. We felt very grateful that the house only went unrented for a month, especially in today's market but we were not so excited about all we had to do to get it ready. Going into it we thought there was just a little here and there but the longer we were there the more we saw that need done. Nothing very major just lots of work. One project was painting my red bedroom wall to brown. Per new renters request, I couldn't really blame them. Just because I love red in my bedroom doesn't mean everyone does! I loved the color this brown turned out though. I purposely check it against a number of other color swatches when choosing it to make sure it would go with pretty much any color someone would want to decorate with.
-The new renters loved it to, thankfully.
The kitchen on the other hand still needs an update. -Not enough time or energy to get to it but we told the renters they could paint it if they would like.
I sure miss this house. But I love my new yard and the new house isn't bad. Especially after our remodel and painting a bedroom wall RED! And the really good thing about it all is that the renters needed a fridge so we were able ;) to return the white one back to this kitchen where it belonged and get a new one for our house that now matches our newly remodeled kitchen!

Car Wash 5/09

The Young Women had a car wash fund raiser for girls camp this year.

It started out to be such a nice day and then it RAINED. -And it rained hard, the girls had done a really great job on my Yukon and then it got rained on! Dang it!
I thought it would be fun to take pictures from the car. -And it was.

cute girl.

Dance Recital 5/09

The end of the busy "arts week".

This was Madisyn's 1st recital after starting back with dance in January. She is just so pretty and I have been amazed at how well she has caught up with the rest of the group after being out for over a year. She dances Ballet and Tap.
Mary Noriega is Madisyn's dance teacher and she just does a wonderful job with her performances.
*I wish she could be in charge of most of the activities that my kids are involved in.*

Dracula 5/09

What a busy week we had with Madisyn's extra curricular talents. The middle school's spring play was Dracula. The play was a bit too old for middle school but Madisyn did a good job with her part. What a talented young lady we have been blessed with. Next time I'm going to read the script before I let the kids participate.
Madisyn's dress was the envy of all of her friends.
