AZ Trip and 24th of July

Ooops! I found some more fun pictures from our AZ trip that I wanted to add.
Grandpa Sherwood gave the middle age boys a few sailing lessons this year, and even let Karston and Trent take the Catamaran out by themselves. They did great, although they did tip it over once when the wind caught them wrong.
Sam, Shawna and Luke riding behind Aaron. Dangerous, I tell you!!!
Aaron taking Madisyn around the lake.
Madisyn and Luke, he was a little concerned about he whole thing!
I was amazed how brave Sam was this year.
Aaron kept trying to throw Jake, but I think he was too big and heavy to get much air.
I was glad Aaron was able to get the old wave runners going. I had a great time running around the lake on them.
Sam tried knee boarding this year and did GREAT! He was even able to do a complete spin while on it.
Good job, little bud!
Jake tried everything this year. Knee boarding, wake boarding and even skiing.

We had a wonderful time on our annual AZ trip this summer.
We started that week out at Lyman Lake State Park. It was a great time with all of the Sherwood extended family.
Roger had a great time showing his skill out on the lake.
Look at him go!
Woo Who old man!
Mom and dad have a number of sections of land out in the Show Low Pines area that they wanted to go find and see if any of us would be interested in. So after coming in from the lake we all gathered up and headed out in search of land.
Madisyn and Karston
The pretty landscape.
It was pretty rough and tumble out there! There were very few roads and we did some pretty crazy off roading in the rain.
Maddie was on the back of Shurell's 4 wheeler, they were doing pretty well staying clean until they had to go through a big MUD PUDDLE!
OK, awful photo of me, but I put it in anyway to prove I got out in all of it too.
Grandpa and Grandma Sherwood checking out where to go next, according to the maps anyway.
On Saturday we went to the annual Pioneer Day Parade.
Sam (orange stripe) and Luke (Blue shirt) loved chasing down the thrown CANDY!
The floats in the parade are made by the local ward's primaries and other organizations as well as local families, businesses and even class reunions. It is always lots of fun to see everyone's creations.
More candy!
One of the highlights is when the Fire Truck brings it's cooling shower down the street.
Ah! Refreshing!
All cooled down.
My Brother My Friend. These two boys have such a close relationship. I love when I am able to capture it on film, even if it is a little blurry.

Jakes 16!, Lochs Levin Lakes #2

Happy Birthday to You, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dearrr Jaaaake, happy birthday to you!
Jake's 1st night out of the hospital. Yes, he is sleeping in a suit case!
Home to Kingman for the 4th of July, on his mamma's lap.
May 1995, almost 1!
Jake at Nanny's, his Great Great Grandmother Heap, in Johns AZ April 1996
Jake at about 3 with his 2nd cousin Whitney and his favorite blanket.

Party time!
A quite little celebration at home. Just like he wanted it. Mom wanted to throw a sweet 16 bash with a D.J. and everything in the back yard but he wanted NOTHING to do with it. Silly boy!
My, what cute kids these are!
The presents. Silly boy, he really didn't' want much of anything for his birthday either.
A 120 min calling card and a radio receiver to put on his MP3 player so he could use it in the old truck he is going to be driving is all he asked for.
Roger found a bull whip that he knew Jake would love and I found a bow I thought he would enjoy.

Loch Levin Lakes, Round 2!
As posted earlier, we went on a hike to Loch Levin Lakes over Memorial Day weekend and were only able to hike around in the snow. So for the 4th of July we went a back to see what was buried below all of the white stuff.
The trip getting there was an adventure since we went on Monday the 5th and all of the Lake Tahoe visitors were trying to go home! Ugh, the traffic was horrid. For about 20 miles we were just at a crawl on the freeway and poor Jake was driving. I guess it was good experience for him but I had white knuckles for most of the trip.

Once we got there is was worth it though.
The trail was very rugged and pretty tough, but these 2 little boys did amazing!
The trail basically just followed a "sometimes" dried stream bed. Often it went straight up requiring climbing up rocks hand over hand.
The cold snow melt was a great way to refresh out tired feet.
We finally made it to the 1st of the 3 lakes and took a nice little break.
Ah, cookies! Yummy!!!!
Maddie taking a break.
Ooo wee, yuck mom and dad!
The long trail down.
Just some of the boulders we climbed around.
More of the rocks!
I think the tracks were about the half way point.
Madisyn was not thrilled with idea of going hiking again, and I think this was probably one of the few smiles that favored her fair face. Poor thing, being in this family of boys.

The 50 Miler! Skyline to Sea Trail 6/10

Roger and Jake were able to go on an amazing High Adventure Boy Scout. They went and hiked the Skyline to Sea trail near San Fransisco and loved it. The rest of the journaling is done by Roger.
The end in sight - but nothing was as close as it looked.
You can see there is a long distance between 16 and 40!
(me and Jake)
What is that? - Just add water and boil - its dinner.
Notice that it is nice and close to my bed.
How hard can this trail be - it should be all down hill.
Nope it's was down and up and down and up and down and up and down but I remember it being mostly up.
Thank goodness for the plentiful shade!
If you are tuff enough, like me, you are tuff enough to pull this sign right out of the ground and proud enough to take the sign home as proof. (not really)
By day three - I needed that bath so bad I did not even strip to my underwear. Once they all saw me splash in it did not take long for the rest to join in.
Photo Opportunity.
This spot sure looked like a quiet restful place away from the crew - but not so!
Soon after dark - "Dad - What's that noise! Hear that. It's getting closer! It's over hear. It's over there. It's circling us. There is more than one of them. It's must be just raccoons. That ain't no raccoon! No it ain't! Must be a bear. Get! That is close. It stopped. No it did not. Whatever it is, it is not afraid of us. Shine the light. It ain't afraid of the light. It ain't afraid of us. It's a family of Sasquatch. Listen they are moving all around. Well whatever is out there, if it was going to get us, it would have done so long ago by now. If it wants to eat me I'm too tired to put fight or run. Might as well sleep."
Is it morning already?
The next morning we went looking for track and found that we had been sleeping in a deer thicket - lots of deer! Also saw a squirrel bite though a pine cone like corn on the cob. I'm going to watch out for squirrels.
Photo Opportunity.

Break time!
Jake had to carry my pack the last 100 yards through the parking lot.

Madisyn's Girls Camp 06/2010

Madisyn's Own Memories
Girl's Camp was really fun this year! the theme was "got courage?" For the skits we had to tell about courageous woman and we chose adam and "eve." We had an animal theme around camp and it was really fun!!!!
sadly, this year we didn't have a zip line because someone got hurt the year previously, but we still had a rock wall and the other fun activities! the best part, as always, was testimony meeting because the spirit was felt so strongly! Since i was a 3rd year our hike was a portion of the 4th year hike, and it was amazing!!! it had a giant rock at the top (chuck) and we all climbed up it to look at the amazing view!!!!
these pictures were taken on the way up the hill!!

though i didn't climb up the rock (i don't like heights) i had someone take the picture of this amazing view atop chuck

me and my friends at the lake on the way up the mountain!!
me and Jessica before the hike!!!
i just woke up in this picture and took out my braid from the day previously to reveal beautiful curls!!!

My Kiwi Lane Friends 06/2010

Some of my favorite designs

Funny little story about how much I LOVE scrap booking!
It all began when my new friend Shiloh first came to our scrap booking group held at the church 3 Fridays a month. She had started using this new style of scrap booking that She, her Mother and Sister in Law had created. We all just drooled over the elegance and beauty of this new style and were in heaven as she began to teach us.
Me especially!
As time went on she and her family decided to start marketing their style which they called Framing while using templates that they had designed. They call the name of the company Kiwi Lane Designs.
Skip forward a year, they now have their 1st big scrapbook convention and things have come up and Shiloh is not going to be able to go and help with the booth. So I volunteered! The crazy part, I have never met any of the people that will be there AND I will be sharing a room with them! And even better I will paying my own way BUT I will receive free product (the few things I don't already own, LOL) as payment for helping.
Here are a few pictures with my new fiends. We had a wonderful time and I loved sharing my passion of this new style with all of the wonderful scrap'ers that would stop and check us out.

Definitely one of the cutest booths there.
