Thanksgiving 11/08

We had a beautiful and fun Thanksgiving in St. Johns AZ this year. It is always so hard to get there but we sure enjoy getting to spend time with our family.
Plus, we always eat really well while there!
Here are a variety of pictures from our trip.Tracy did such a wonderful job hosting all of us Thanksgiving Day. It started with a breakfast of crapes courtesy of Carson and then ended with an amazing traditional Thanksgiving Feast. This is a picture of the lovely Dining Room she had decorated and prepared for us. Yes, we really did eat on real dishes. (24 of us!) And then she wouldn't let us do the dishes. I think Tracy should host Dinner from now on!!! I wonder what she thinks???
Dad and Roger at the baby blessing.
Since it rained the whole time we were there we had to find ways to keep our selves entertained. Rashelle had reserved the church building for all day Friday so we had breakfast there and spent all morning and part of the afternoon there playing games and keeping the younger kids occupied while the guys went on a paintball shoot out. Here they are playing Red Rover.
You have to look hard but this is a picture of Uncle Eric and his contraption he made to pop the helium balloons that the kids had let float to the ceiling.
We couldn't leave them there for Church on Sunday!
All the little kids having a pillow fight out on the lawn Thanksgiving night. Poor Tracy, they used every pillow in her house. But to the little kids defence, they were just copying the pillow fight the big boys had out on the trampoline earlier.
Cousins!
Kyson Price, Brock Sherwood, Melody Price, Sam Kunzler and Luke Kunzler
Luke with his two guns in his pockets.
He is just crazy about toy guns!
Our Rock Stars!
Brian and his son Peter, Jake and Trent.
Tracy covered the kids tables with butcher paper and let them at it.

My Grandma 11/08

I may be 36 but oh how I love my Grandma!
We are such kindred spirits she and I.
I wish I could live closer to her and see her everyday like when we were both in Kingman.
This instantly became my favorite picture of Grandma the moment I took it. We never get a good picture of Grandma with her eyes open. And not only are her eyes open but she has such a beautiful presence about her.
She is in her element.
Gathered with her posterity and in the kitchen. And the cute little smile comes from the fact that she didn't have to cook any of the delicious meal she is helping to get ready!
-Picture taken in Tracy's kitchen on Thanksgiving Day 2008 in St.Johns AZThis is a picture of the quilt I made Grandma. I have been in this quilt making mode recently and had been missing Grandma and decided to make her a quilt. I was so pleased with how it turned out. The wonderful thing about this lap quilt is that it is so warm. The top is a variety of decorator fabric samples and corduroy with a backing of medium weight velor.
Oh so soft and cozy.
If it had not been going to Grandma I would have kept it for myself!!!

more babies!

These are some fun baby shots from our Thanksgiving Trip to AZGrandpa and Grandma Sherwood with their four new grand babies of 2008

Chase Price, Reese Crosby, Camryn Sherwood and Kayla Casey

On Friday night we went to the baby blessings of 3 Price babies. Not only did the Sherwood's have lots of babies, so did Rashelle's in-laws.

What is in the St. Johns water!!!!

This picture has my siblings and their spouses as well as Travis's brother Kevin and his sister Amber and their new babies.

Rashelle did such a cute job of decorating the cultural hall for the dinner after the Blessings. She is just so creative and seems to think of all the little details.

For dinner we had a variety of soups. Another great idea since it was a very cold wet night.

Little Chase is such a cute little guy. It is often said that it is so hard to believe that he has any problems. He is just so happy and healthy looking. I just want to take him home he is so cute.

I love this picture of Shurell and Kayla.

Kayla is such a happy baby. She is truly a doll.

I caught this moment of Terin with Camryn right after the blessing. Sometimes the candid shots are the best shots!

Brothers

Saturday was a nice day. Roger and the big kids went on a Youth Temple trip. So while they were gone the little boys and I went in search of Santa. We had heard that he would be in town today. We found him at a local craft fair. Not surprisingly, Luke was intrigued with the big red guy but would have nothing to do with his lap! By the time we were ready to leave he had given Santa a "high 5" so maybe next time he will go for the lap.

While at the fair we went to the school's Book Fair booth. While there Sam found a calculator he just had to have. Here the boys are deeply intent on figuring out their new "math toy". It was money well spent in that it occupied Sam for the rest of the day and through most of Sacrament meeting on Sunday.

This is just the cutest picture.

Appliance Garage

Sorry this picture is so grainy. It is a super zoom in on the old doors to my appliance garage. These pictures are mainly for Rashelle to see so she can decide if she would like one in her new kitchen. I'm especially proud of this design because I created it. My cabinet maker was a little leery of the design until he thought about it for a while. Then he got excited and wanted to build the cabinets just so he could build this garage. That's what he said anyway. At first he built the doors himself and they were very nice but they just didn't seem to match since they didn't have the raised detailing the the rest of the kitchen has. So we asked him to order new doors to match the others and that made a world of a difference. We are really thrilled with the whole look of the kitchen now. Now we just need to get the tile backsplash up and it will be perfect!

The great thing about this design is that the doors open completely to the walls. Allowing maximum use of space and ease of using appliances.

The doors each open and then fold up against the wall.

Fall! 08

These picture just can not do the color of Fall justice!
One of the trees in our back yard was just such a brilliant gold the other day that I just had to go take some pictures of it. Thank goodness I did because just two days later we had a big storm and now it is pretty much bare of leaves.

See all the green still on this tree? This picture was taken the same day. I find it amazing that the trees in the same yard will all change color at different times.

We may not have all of the beautiful reds that they get in the East but these old Cottonwoods can be the most brilliant gold you can imagine. I am just so blessed to live in such a pretty area of Fernley.

Carving Pumpkins 10/30/08

We try and carve pumpkins every year. It doesn't always happen but it is something that the whole family enjoys that we can do together. It is funny to see the expressions on every one's faces. It was very dark when I took the picture so I had no idea what anyone looked like until the flash went off.
Roger's "Goofy Face" Jake's "Headless Horseman" Madisyn's "Bat" Mom & Luke's "Happy Hal" and Sam's "Ghost" I thought every one did a really great job. I was really impressed by the level of difficulty that the kids were able to do. I couldn't believe Jake could carve out the horses legs.
As you can tell by Madisyn's look she was not too pleased. At this time she was having a hard time getting her design paper attached to her pumpkin. But it all turned out well in the end and she ended up enjoying herself.
Jake was very meticulous with his and it showed when he was finished. Great job!
She was awfully proud of her bat when she got it finished. I was impressed with her skill!
I was also impressed that Sam did all of his own cutting. He just had Dad help him pull out the pieces once he had them cut.
Luke didn't participate much but he still seemed to enjoy just being with everyone.
